BARRIE BAR: BIG BONE BBQ REVIEW

So to follow up my previous post, I thought it would be best to talk about something that goes hand in hand with chicken wings; ribs. Yesterday evening, a couple of my buddies and I ventured on over to Big Bone BBQ for a bite to eat, and like always, Big Bone did not disappoint my appetite.

Located at 190 Minet's Point Rd in Barrie, Big Bone BBQ is known for their smoked Ribs and Chicken Wings. On Mondays, Big Bone offers a special which for $25 you get a full rack of ribs, a pound of wings, and a large basket of fries. If your going with another person, trust me this is enough food for two. The Ribs are smoked, and fall right off the bone and are flavoured with their signature BBQ sauce. The chicken wings are pretty good as well. Big Bone offers two styles of chicken wings, original smoked, and fried. Without a doubt, do yourself a favour and go for the smoked wings. They are awesome!

Big Bone BBQ is one of the only places that offers a true taste of southern BBQ in Barrie. Not only is the food excellent, but the restaurant itself is pretty cool as well. As soon as your walk in, you can smell the smoked meats cooking in the kitchen, and can hear the sounds of BB King, Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughn playing over the sound system. As noted on their website, Big Bone is an intimate Southern Shack that promotes friendly hospitality and great BBQ cooking

So next time you feel like treating yourself to some tasty ribs, and southern style BBQ, head over to Big Bone BBQ for a meal that will not disappoint you!

Unti next time,

Stay hydrated.

BARRIE BAR: STICKY FINGERS BAR & GRILL REVIEW

Greetings all!

Although I love to talk about the Barrie nightlife scene, its always nice to throw in the odd curve ball. This time my focus shifts from drinking your face off, to eating your face off!

Without a doubt, I think it is pretty easy to say that everyone loves a good batch of chicken wings. For some, it may only be a pound, for others it could be 2 or 3 pounds, or maybe for those crazy cats out there it may be all you can eat wings. Whatever your desired serving size may be, chicken wings rock!

As I am a huge chicken wing fan, I am always interested in finding a good wing joint. It doesn't have to be fancy, just as long as the wings are good then count me in. My favourite spot to get wings in Barrie is Sticky Fingers Bar & Grill, located at 199 Essa Rd in Barrie. It isn't the fanciest restaurant around but the chicken wings are excellent and the beer is cold!

The wings are not breaded, but seasoned before being deep fried and come out nice and crisp! My favourite flavours are the Sweet and Spicy Thai, Dry Lemon Pepper, Hot, and who can ever go wrong with Honey Hot. Portions sizes and prices are pretty fair too. For a regular size wing basket, you get 9 wings, a bed of fries and a couple veggies and dip. For a large size wing basket, you get18 wings, with a choice of two flavours, bed of fries, and veggies and dip. Not only are the wings excellent, but the in house creamy dill dip is like none other. For those that are blue cheese or ranch fans with their wings, the creamy dill dip at Sticky Fingers Bar & Grill will open up a whole new world to how to eat wings!

To add to the great food, Sticky Fingers Bar & Grill always has awesome live entertainment on the weekends. Acts range from bands that cover classic rock, to roadhouse blues, and new age rock. Whatever your preference, the bands get people movin' and grovin' up on the dance floor!

So remember, next time your craving some chicken wings, venture on over to Sticky Fingers Bar & Grill!

Until next time,

Stay hydrated.

BARRIE BAR: DONALEIGHS IRISH PUBLIC HOUSE REVIEW

Thursday nights are quite possibly my favourite nights of the week. You may all be wondering why that is but give me a couple minutes to explain.

Thursday nights are essentially the start of the weekend. Think about it, just how much work does anyone get done on a Friday? Not too much at all, so why not take advantage of an additional evening to get out to have some fun with friends, and make some new ones as well. Secondly, those that go out Thursday nights are always looking for a good time. If you are single, Thursdays are the nights you should be going out because those that are not single are staying in with their significant other. It is a Win Win for both boys and girls.

One of my favourite Thirsty Thursday destinations in the Barrie area is Donaleighs Irish Public House, located at 28 Dunlop Street East in Barrie. The awesome thing about Donaleighs Irish Public House is that it has a great after work hours crowd. There is no need to have to wait until 11pm for the place to fill up but rather from right after the work day until just after midnight, it is filled with young working professionals grabbing a bite to eat and a couple drinks. Along with having one of the best pub atmospheres among Barrie bars, Donaleighs Irish Public House always has great acoustic entertainment on Thursday nights. If your in the mood for a bite, I recommend the Irish Nachoes, they will not disappoint you.

Hopefully I have made you think differently Thursday nights, and just how fun they can be.

Until next time,

Stay hydrated.

KENZINGTON MENU -- LOOK AT THOSE BURGERS!

BARRIE BAR: KENZINGTON BURGER BAR REVIEW

Hello All!

This past weekend was filled with lots of turkey, and of course a little bit of partying as well. Hands down my favourite spot to go to in Barrie is Kenzington Burger Bar, located at 40 Dunlop Street East right in the heart of downtown Barrie. For those who are always in search of awesome live entertainment, this is the place to be! The staff is awesome, and are always in the mood for having a great time. Not only is the music and energy in the bar great, but the selection of craft beer is awesome too. They have a wide selection of craft beer from all over Ontario, starting with my favourite Mill Street Organic, and including beer from Flying Monkey's Brewery in Barrie and Amsterdam Brewery in Toronto. Most importantly, if you are ever in need of a meal, they have the best burgers in Barrie, serving them up on fresh pretzel buns with a nice selection of sides, including fresh cut fries, and my favourite poutine.

As stated, Kenzington Burger Bar is known to attract the best live entertainment in Barrie, HANDS DOWN! They have hosted Hollerado, as well as prominent indie band Zeus. This past Sunday they had one of the COOLEST live acts I have ever seen, THE DEAD PENNY TRIO. Here is a link to give you a sample of their unique sound!

Until next time,

Stay hydrated.

Cheers,

-Barrie Bar Star.
