BARRIE BAR: KELSEY'S BARRIE

Last week I was doing some holiday shopping, and after a long, stressful day at the Georgian Mall, I ventured across the street to Kelsey's for a cold beer.

Kelsey's offers by far the coolest draft among all barrie bars. They have the sub zero draft taps for Coors Light and Canadian and it is so tasty. Although Kelsey's is not the most happening atmosphere among barrie bars, it is a good spot to grab some wings and nachos while sipping on the coolest draft in Barrie. In the bar, there are lots of TVs all positioned well so that everyone has a view of the game. Also, Kelsey's draft prices are pretty awesome too.

BARRIE BAR: MCREILLY'S BARRIE

The next barrie bar that will be reviewed is McReilly's Pub and Restaurant in Barrie. McReilly's is one of the only true pubs among barrie bars and offers a comforting and relaxing atmosphere if your in the mood for a couple of pints.

McReilly's offers some great food if you are in the mood for a bite to eat, as well as usually has some live acoustic entertainment going most nights. On Thursday nights, McReilly's is the only barrie bar that offers a open mic night. Usually you can count on some good, and also some bad performances, but rest assured you will be entertained.

BARRIE BAR: WILD WING BARRIE REVIEW

As you all know, I am a huge chicken wing enthusiast. I am always on the search for a new wing joint to watch the game at, or just to grab a couple of beers with my friends. A barrie bar that I enjoy grabbing wings at is Wild Wing Barrie.

Wild Wing Barrie has a great atmosphere if your in the mood to be social and have a couple cold pints. WIth over 100 different flavours of chicken wings, Wild Wing definitely offers the widest selection of wing flavours of any Barrie bar. With Wild Wing Barrie being so close to the Barrie Molson Centre, serves as a great Barrie bar to grab a couple beers with your buddies before the game.

Be sure to check out Wild Wing Barrie next time your in the mood for wings!

BLUE MOUNTAIN BAR: RUSTY'S AT BLUE

With all the snow we have gotten over the weekend, everyone is hoping for an awesome ski and snowboard season. Even if you are not a fan of the snow, you have to appreciate a weekend at a ski resort and getting out of the city atmosphere to get back in touch with nature. With every ski weekend, usually comes a good party weekend as well. For the best ski and party experience in Ontario, Blue Mountain in Collingwood is the place to be, and the place to be at Blue Mountain is Rusty's at Blue.

Rusty's at Blue is right at the base of Blue Mountain and offers some of the best pub grub in the village during the day, and transforms into party central once night time hits. Rusty's usually has a solid DJ playing music from top 40 to electronic and dance to keep the crowd moving! If you are a single girl or guy, Rusty's is the place to go to meet someone new on the dance floor.

Next time your planning a ski weekend be sure to head up to Blue Mountain and venture on over to Rusty's at Blue for a couple cold ones.

BARRIE BAR: THE QUEENS HOTEL REVIEW

Greetings!

So the holidays are quickly fast approaching, and always during this time of year I think of coming back from University and seeing all my friends 'out and about' on the town. One of the places I can always counting on seeing a good crowd of old friends is at The Queens Hotel in Barrie.

Everyone that grew up in Barrie has been a patron of The Queens Hotel at one point in their life. Whether it was gracing Queens dance side when you first started going out as a 19 year old, or venturing over to Queens Sportside once you were seen as being too old for dance side, we have all been there.

The Queens Hotel is still one of the staple bars of downtown Barrie. Tuesday nights are packed with students from Georgian College, and every weekend both dance side and sportside are filled with people ready to party!

Be sure to check out The Queens Hotel this holiday season!

BEER REVIEW: STEAM WHISTLE PILSNER REVIEW

Like every Sunday, I usually have a couple beers while watching NFL football. Today my beer of choice was Steam Whistle Pilsner, brewed down in Toronto, ON.

As I am usually not a pilsner fan, I was very surprised when I tasted Steam Whistle and how much I enjoyed it. The way that I describe Steam Whistle Pilsner is very crisp and having a nice kick of sweetness to it.

The other cool thing about Steam Whistle, is the awesome brewery tours that they offer and their sponsorship of cool social events such as the Embridge Ride to Conquer Cancer and Movember!

BARRIE BAR: MOXIES GRILL & BAR BARRIE REVIEW

It is usually pretty hard for me to find a reason to not enjoy a restaurant or bar, but yet again I have to vocalize my opinion regarding a bar that I just can't seem to enjoy. That place is Moxies Grill & Bar in Barrie.

The problem that I have with Moxies Grill & Bar is not the food, and it is not the drink menu. The food is pretty good, maybe slightly over priced and times, and Moxies Grill & Bar have a couple interesting beers on their menu. The biggest problem that I have with Moxies Grill & Bar is just the overall atmosphere. It is too stiff, and at times I feel the patrons are just a little too high on themselves. Sounds ridiculous to say that, but that is just who I am. I am a simple.

Hopefully, next post will be a little more upbeat and positive!

I HATE THESE COMMERCIALS! SO CHEAP AND A COMPLETE RIP OFF OF THE KEG!

BARRIE BAR: JACK ASTOR'S BAR & GRILL BARRIE REVIEW

Every sunday I sit in front of my TV and watch NFL Football for hours on end. Sometimes when I am in the mood for moving, I may head out to catch the game at a local bar. One of the best atmospheres to catch a game at in Barrie is Jack Astor's Bar & Grill.

At Jack Astor's Bar & Grill not only is the food pretty tasty, but they offer an awesome selection of draft beer and they have more TVs in the bar than most people can handle. Everywhere you look, there is a TV so there is never a chance that you will miss out on a game breaking play.

So remember, next time you want to catch a football game head over to your neighbourhood Jack Astor's Bar & Grill. Hopefully it won't be too long until we can all start watching the NHL again!

BEER REVIEW: MILL ST ORGANIC REVIEW

Hello All!

Next on the list of beers to review is the Original Organic brewed by Mill St Brewery in Toronto, ON. Without a doubt, Mill St Organic is a fast growing beer among many beer drinkers due to the crisp, fresh taste, and its ability to make you think that you are doing your body a favour by drinking organic beer.

Mill St Organic is perfect to drink with a meal or before a night out. Its lightness allows you to drink it easily, while flavour is not jeopardized compared to other light beers.

Definitely give Mill St Organic a try next time you are purchasing some cold ones!

BEER REVIEW: MUKOKA CREAM ALE REVIEW

Hello All!

With always writing about restaurants and bars, the topic of great tasting beers was bound to come up. Just recently I started exploring the different tastes of craft beer and my was it a good decision.

One of my favourite cream ales to drink is Muskoka Cream Ale brewed by the Muskoka Brewery. To me a pint of Muskoka Cream Ale takes me over seas to a pub where I am prone to drink more than just a couple drafts.

So remember next time your in the mood to try out a different beer, buy a pack of Muskoka Cream Ale. You will not be disappointed.

BARRIE BAR: BUFFALO WILD WINGS REVIEW

Hey all!

Now that we are well into the NFL season and the American Thanksgiving is upon us, every football fan is in search of a winning sports bar to watch their favourite teams compete. In Barrie there is a select number of sports bars that have a 'winning' atmosphere. Unfortunately, Buffalo Wild Wings in Barrie is not one of them.

As soon as you walk into Buffalo Wild Wings, you are greeted by a hostess that make you question as to whether they have yet to receive their G1. Everywhere you look, a numbers of servers look under the age of 18 and this does not provide for the most appropriate 'sports bar' atmosphere.

Not only are the servers all young, but the overall environment of Buffalo Wild Wings is horrible. The restaurant itself is HUGE, and it almost feels as though you are in a high-school cafeteria with the bright lights and laminate table tops.

Not only is the environment brutal, but for a place that markets themselves as good 'wing' destination, Buffalo Wild Wings are no better than average.

I could go on for hours but why spend time writing about something negative when you can search for a positive!

BARRIE BAR: SKYBANK

CHECK OUT THESE VIEWS!

BARRIE BAR: SKYBANK REVIEW

With all of this wet weather that our good friend Sandy has brought about, it made me start to reminisce about the beautiful summer weather that we just had. Nothing says summer like drinking an ice cold beer on a beautiful patio, and if there is a decent view of the city scenery then thats an added bonus. Luckily, in Barrie we have a place that offers all three! That place is SKYBANK, located at 66 Dunlop Street East.

Without a doubt, SKYBANK is the best patio in Barrie, and offers an amazing view of downtown Barrie and the beautiful waterfront. During the summer, when festivals are going on you can hear the music from bands playing at Fred Grant square, yet your a little ways away from the busy streets. Not only is the SKYBANK a place to grab a cold drink, but they have some great food as well. SKYBANK has some awesome lunch items such as sandwiches and burgers, and please do not pass on the french fries. They are a gift from heaven!

So although summer is still awhile away, be sure that once the warm weather hits to head over to the SKYBANK and enjoy the amazing view of the city of Barrie... and maybe a cold drink or two as well!

Until next time,

BARRIE BAR: THE RANCH BARRIE REVIEW

Its been awhile since my last post but luckily not only will you get a little dish on spot to party, but a place you can eat as well. The place I am talking about is The Ranch in Barrie, located at 56 Bayfield Street.

The Ranch has come to be one of Barrie's hottest bars, especially on saturday nights. If you don't mind a little country, then The Ranch is the place to go. There is no need to wait to get a drink, there is lots of room to dance, there are plenty of girls and gents ready to have to some fun, and the best part, they have a mechanical bull! I can honestly say that if you are ready to party, then The Ranch is the place to go. It is a fun atmosphere that almost anyone can enjoy. Don't be discouraged by the name either! Even though it is Canada's largest country bar, you don't have to come dressed as if you are in the wild wild west, nor do you have to worry about listening to honkie tonk country music all night. Usually around midnight the DJ makes a transition to top 40 and adds a little spice of country every now and then.

Another little bonus to The Ranch is The Ranch's Bar and Grill. If you are tight on cash and want a decent and cheap meal The Ranch's Bar and Grill is a great spot. Every day of the week they have a different daily special. On Mondays you can get a 1/2 rack of ribs with fries and coleslaw for $6, Tuesdays an 8oz burger for $2, and Wednesdays is 20 cent wing night. Talk about eating out economically!

So remember next time your in dire need of some food, or need an awesome night out where you are bound to meet some new people, head over to The Ranch!
